The Basics of Writing a Wix Blog Post

Once you accept your contributor invite Wix will prompt you to log in or register. Sadly you need to register for a wix account as well as a MiM members account. Once you have done so it will take you to this page.

You can choose to change your author name at this point, maybe to your business name for maximum impact. You then click ‘Create new post’.

Once you have clicked this page will pop up. At this point you can just copy and paste the questions into the editor and type your responses.

To add a photo click the camera by the white arrow. To add a single gallery of photos click the grid by the orange arrow. You will then be taken to the uploads page. Please bear in mind that we have a really small amount of data available so keep it to a maximum of 5 photos please. Please click 'create new folder' on the right hand side and create a folder with your business name on it.

Click upload media and add your images. Once your images have uploaded you will be able to click on them and click 'add to page'. If your images didn't go into the folder you created please drag and drop them into it.

You can align your images by clicking on them and then clicking on this menu.

You can also resize them by clicking on them and then this menu.

Once your blog is written and photos are added you will want to make sure you get the maximum publicity for your business by optimising it for search engines and putting it in the right category. These stages are optional but worthwhile.

1 - Click settings in the left hand menu. You can upload an image to be displayed on the main blog page. It will come out the shape shown - a landscape rectangle - so please bear this in mid when choosing which image to use. If you want to you can add an excerpt which will also appear on the main page - including your business name here is a good idea.

2 - Click SEO in the left hand menu. This will allow you to get your blog seen on Google. Change the the 'post url' to your business name and the 'title on search engines' to blog followed by your business name. You can also give the post a short description.

3 - Choose a category. If you want your blog to be seen on the site and be searchable then please select the 'build it' category from the list. As you can see, we are looking to write and get writers for lots of other categories so if you've enjoyed this and would like to write something else please do let us know.
