About

Make it Mindful was established in 2019 by three teachers embarking on their own self employment journeys. After working on our own projects outside of school it became clear that we all had a shared interest in becoming more involved with our local community, particularly in working with young people who may be experiencing emotional difficulties. After a number of meetings (Thank you Carberrys) Make it Mindful became our new collaborative venture.
Our aim is to give children and young people strategies to manage and improve their mental health using creative activities in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Our core project is a 4 session course which we take into schools and out of school sessions. We hope to offer this for private bookings but we are currently seeking a suitable venue which will allow us to keep costs low. To read more about our core project click here. If you have a venue which we may be able to use please email us.

Greetings. As the first alphabetically I will make the first introduction. I have been working in education since 2009. At present I am self employed running my own local events business, the Handmade and Creative Market. I have been established since early 2018 and my events have grown from a small, part time venture attracting 35 stalls to a now monthly event in Holt, with two large 130 stall events in Norwich per year. The core of my business is supporting and promoting small creative businesses from across East Anglia and I hope that MiM will allow me to support and inspire our local young people to build their own success story.
I am a qualified Science teacher, experienced in working with pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and a variety of other special educational needs. I have worked in a number of educational settings over the past ten years and I am currently working towards my MSc in Psychology. I hope to train as an Educational Psychologist at the end of my course. My first degree is in Animal Behaviour and while human behaviour is more complex I believe that our requirements are essentially the same, consistency and positive outcomes.
In my free time I run a small side business making handmade leather goods. You can have a look over on Instagram by clicking here. I write a regular monthly craft series for Let's Talk Magazine and I am a doting Staffordshire Bull Terrier parent.

Hello and welcome to our website!
I am a mum to two children and have first hand experience of coping with a variety of mental health issues in my family. I taught in schools for 25 years, often teaching children with social, behavioural and emotional difficulties including in an alternative provision setting. I am passionate about developing enterprising skills and capability in young people to enable them to be successful in our often stressful world, and have developed a range of enterprising resources in collaboration with others at a local, regional and national level.
I have now retired from full-time teaching to focus on growing my business The Creation Station Norwich and Broadland, which aims to inspire imaginations in children and adults of all ages through creative activities. I am a trustee for the Get Me Out The Four Walls charity.

Hello!
Like Charlotte and Eleanor, I'm an ex-teacher who worked in education for almost thirty years, mostly with children and teens with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. As well as teaching I worked for Norfolk in an advisory capacity specialising in behaviour and special educational needs. I left education three years ago after retraining as a therapist and now combine running a private therapy practice (www.changingbehaviour.co.uk), counselling in schools, education consultancy and being a foster carer for Norfolk children. Mindfulness is one of the things I always teach my clients and something I do to protect my own mental health.
